Classes of Membership

Playing rights and restrictions

Ordinary membership

AN ORDINARY MEMBER is entitled to attend and vote at any General Meeting, and is eligible for election to the Committee and to any office of the Club. Playing times are unrestricted.



Associate membership

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP is open to any Ordinary Member or new applicant on payment of the appropriate Entrance Fee. Associate Members shall have the same rights as Ordinary Members except that only two Associate Members will be eligible for election to the Committee at any time.

Associate Members must cease playing not later than 6.00 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays and shall not play on Medal Competition Saturdays until after 5.30 pm. On other Saturday’s they shall not play between 1.00 pm and 5.30 pm.

Associate Members shall only be eligible to represent the Club in team matches and to play in club competitions which are scheduled within their authorised playing times.



Junior membership

JUNIOR MEMBERS shall be under 18 years of age. Junior Members must cease playing not later than 6.00 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays and are not permitted to play on Medal Competition Saturdays until after 5.30 pm. On all other Saturdays, they are allowed to play until 1.00 pm and after 5.30 pm. They are not permitted to play until after 12 noon on Sundays.

A NEW PRE-JUNIOR Category for 2012 introduces a subscription rate of 50% of the Junior fee for Juniors aged 11 or under. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, Pre-Juniors may only play after 6pm in the company of a responsible adult.



Intermediate membership

INTERMEDIATE MEMBERSHIP is open to Junior Members who have reached the age of 18 by the end of the Club year, and to applicants over the age of 18 who are not existing members of the Club. Intermediate Members shall be entitled to the same playing rights as Ordinary Members.

At the end of the Club year when Intermediate members reach the age of 24, they move onto a sliding scale of subscription fee to ease the cost of transition to Ordinary Membership, as the subscription increases by just 1/8 of the Ordinary fee every 2 years until...

...Intermediate Members may apply for Ordinary or Associate Membership at the end of the Club year in which they reach the age of 30 years. All Intermediate Members not applying for Ordinary or Associate Membership shall cease to be Members of the Club at the end of the Club year in which they attain 30 years of age.



Country membership

COUNTRY MEMBERSHIP may be conferred on any Ordinary or Associate Members who have paid full entry fees and who move their permanent residence beyond what the Committee considers to be a reasonable travelling distance.

Country Members shall be entitled to all the playing privileges of the Club except that they shall:- a) be ineligible to enter any Club competition other than monthly medals, handicap medals and those competitions open to non-members; and b) be ineligible to represent the Club in team matches.



Summer membership

SUMMER MEMBERSHIP is open to applicants over the age of 18 who are not existing members of the Club. Summer Members shall be entitled to play during the months of July, August and September except during times designated for Club competitions or matches.

Subject to prior agreement with the Match Secretary, a Summer Member may submit cards to establish a handicap under the normal handicapping rules.

The privilege of Summer Membership shall expire at the end of the second summer of such membership at which time the Summer Member shall have the option of applying to become either an Ordinary or Associate Member.



Social membership

SOCIAL MEMBERSHIP is open to applicants over the age of 18 who are not existing members of the Club. Social Members shall only have access to the social facilities of the Club but may be introduced as a playing visitor in accordance with the Club's usual visitor arrangements.
