Gala 2010 News
News and views of our premier festival weekend
Gala weekend - news of all the results, including the prize draw!
Gala weekend is now finished (phew!) and it was very well received by everyone, generally feeling it was the best ever.
We now have to wonder how to top it next year!
We had many sponsors (depicted on the left) to help the weekend be a success and we are grateful that so many wish to be associated with our Gala! Please click on their logo to see their websites where available, and/or note their contact details.

On Saturday 28th was the Gents / Guests Texas Scramble Competition for gentlemen members and their guests, with handicap prizes to 3rd place as well as prizes for longest and straightest drive, and nearest the pin.
You will have seen the Hole-in-One prizes on offer for all of the par threes, courtesy of Skyform! Although Reece Donnelly nearly did it on Sunday (two inches away) it was a Saturday prize only.
Saturday concluded with Sam Lowrie performing. It seems (this author was well tucked up in bed by then) there was a Full Monty style competition...passwords to the new plain brown wrapper web pages will be on sale soon :-) ! It was an enjoyable social evening for all members and families to share with their guests.

On Sunday 29th was the Texas Scramble for mixed teams of four, including family non-members, won by the MacLean family team. Nearest the pin was won by Reece as mentioned above, narrowly beating young Connor from the MacLean team. There were many other prizes too, (including a special prize for the Glasgow Gurkhas!) as well as a Gala Prize Raffle on the Saturday night, thanks to our kind sponsors whose generosity is better than ever this year.
The Gala Prize Draw was drawn on Sunday evening, and prizes were won as follows:
1st Walter Kirkwood, no. 377, the overnight stay in St Andrews and golf for two.
2nd Cammy Finlay, no. 53, Golf for 4 at Cardross with breakfast rolls & lunch.
3rd Eddie McLeod, no. 498, Golf for 4 at Douglas Park with breakfast rolls & lunch.
4th, Ross McLeod, no. 383, a bottle of Martell Cordon Bleu Cognac.
Please contact Brian Howat with any queries. The draw was conducted with true random numbers from 1 to 500 drawn through a random draw widgit in our website admin pages from the random.org website.
